Maintain a Strong Smile During Holiday Parties
The holidays are quickly approaching, and before you get too busy with your “To Do” lists, shopping, and celebrations, our dentist, Dr. David Trebisovsky, would like to teach you how to care for your smile during the holiday parties. That way you can be prepared when the holidays arrive.
The first thing you should do is start with the basics. Leading up to the parties, you need to keep up on oral hygiene. This means you should brush your teeth twice a day, floss your teeth once a day, and rinse your mouth daily. If you’re due for your six-month checkup, you should also visit our office for your dental cleaning and exam. These things can help you have strong teeth and gums that can survive the holiday season.
The second thing you should do is to eat healthy holiday snacks. This means you should cut back on the sugary treats. It’s best to snack on the foods that have nutrients, like cheese, carrots, and celery. Eating these foods can strengthen your teeth and help you avoid dental issues.
The third thing you should do is consider your smile when choosing a beverage. This means you should select the beverages that won’t stain or erode your teeth. Unfortunately, wine, tea, and coffee can all stain your chompers. Soda can also wear away the tooth enamel. So, it’s best to stick to water or a noncarbonated or sugar and stain-free drink. If you have to drink a harmful beverage, it’s best to follow it down with water.
