Our Sandpiper Dental team wants you to have the best dental experience possible, and we believe that it is achievable if you know what to expect during your dental appointment with Dr. David Trebisovsky. So, to help you prepare for your dental implant treatment, our team is happy to explain the three phases involved so you can feel comfortable in the dental chair. The three phases are:

Phase 1

First, your dentist will place a small titanium post into the bone socket of your missing tooth. This post will act as the root for the replacement tooth. Then, the jawbone will need to heal around it, which could take anywhere between six and 12 weeks. During this time, your dentist may ask you to have a soft food diet so the site remains unharmed.

Phase 2

When the bone has healed around the post, your dentist will then attach a connector post, which is also called an abutment. Then, he will make impressions of your tooth and make a model of your bite. Next, he will send the impressions and model to a dental lab where the technicians will create your dental crown or bridge.

Phase 3

Once your restoration is created, your dentist will check its shape, size, and color to make sure it fits perfectly with your smile. If it exceeds expectations, he will place the crown or bridge over the abutment, giving you the natural-looking smile you deserve.

Now that you know all about the steps involved in dental implant treatment, you should feel safe and relaxed while you are in the hands of the dentist!
